Monochrome Monday: Palace of Versailles

Happy Monday!

If you need help fighting the Monday Blues, treat yourself to a mental vacation!

Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to re-visit one of my favorite cities, Paris! On each visit, I’ve managed to include a day trip to the Palace of Versailles.

Interestingly enough, on each visit, I’ve discovered something new.

On my first visit, I was fascinated by the hall of mirrors. Although by our standards mirrors are rather ordinary, it was interesting to learn that owning mirrors during the 17th century was a sign of wealth and status.

On my second visit, I fell in love with the beautiful gardens. It was a treat to stroll along gardens that were once owned by French royalty.

What was my fascination on the last visit…the palace courtyard! If the palace is this magnificent today, I image it was 5x more beautiful in the 17th century.

Well, my mental vacation is over. Although it was short, it was nice to get away.

  1. Hi!
Thanks for visiting my blog via the weekly photo post.
I love this different shot of Versailles. I live in the suburbs of Paris and have only been twice to Versailles. Good for you that you got to return to Paris!!
