Happy New Year!
A new year means new opportunities for photo challenges. I recently found a wonderful community of photographers at 52frames.com!
Each week, a new assignment is given that will challenge photographers to elevate their photography skills.
The first assignment of the year…Self Portraits! I typically shy away from being in front of the camera, but I knew it would be a great learning experience.
I took a lot of selfies, but finally settled on a simple self portrait to share on the blog that I liked.
I hope that you like it too! Have a wonderful week…
I’m happy to announce that I’ve met the 50th Stranger in my 100 Beautiful Strangers Project this weekend!! I’m officially at the half way point guys!!
This weekend, I joined a group of photographers from a meet up group to attend the annual Renaissance Fair. The event is very popular in this area. I was excited because this was my first time attending the fair. The fair was amazing! There was so much to see and a lot to photograph.
Since I knew this was going to be a great event, I made it my goal to meet a stranger for the project.
I did a bit of scouting around the festival grounds and came across a yellow wall that could serve as the background. I think it worked great for the picture.
There was only one thing left to do…find the next stranger!
When I saw Lavette, I knew in an instant that she was the perfect person to be Stranger #50 in the project.
Lavette was great! She was a natural in front of the camera and knew how to pose with various expressions . Out of the few poses I took, these two were my favorites.
I hope that you enjoy the photos too Lavette! Thank you for being Stranger #50!!
I met up with a group for a photo walk in a quaint and trendy part of town. As I was walking around, I saw Koraima. She was the perfect candidate for 100 Strangers and I didn’t miss the opportunity to ask her to join the project.
Koraima’s hairstyle and blue sunshades were the perfect combination for a fun and stylish summer look and I’m so glad that I got a chance to capture it!
Thanks for joining the project Koraima, I hope that you enjoy the rest of your summer!
I met Ronald while I was visiting a historic harbor in a neighboring city. After all the rain we’ve had recently, today felt like one of the first days of a “real” summer.
While I was walking around, I noticed Ronald because of his defined features. I knew that he had to be the next Stranger in the project.
Ronald was so kind and patient while I snapped a few shots.
Thank you for being apart of the project Ronald! It was a pleasure to photograph you.
This past weekend, I was out on a group photo walk and it was the perfect time to catch up on the 100 Beautiful Strangers Project.
As I was walking, Caitlyn approached me after seeing my camera and wanted to know if I was a photographer. When I told her yes, she was excited to get information regarding where she could take photography courses.
What a golden opportunity! I quickly told her about the project and she agreed to be the next stranger.
I’m so happy that Caitlyn is interested in photography! It’s a wonderful way to stretch your creativity and to document life.
Thank you for being apart of the project Caitlyn and good luck on your photography journey!
This weekend, I had an awesome time at the DC Cosplayers event!
Jennifer did a wonderful job impersonating the villain from 101 Dalmatians, Cruella de Vil.
Isn’t the puppy adorable? 🙂
Have a wonderful week!
Here’s another photo from the workshop I mentioned in my last post.
I was amazed at how a slight change in lighting could add so much drama to a photo. 🙂
A special thanks to Ms. Nataliya Natta who was one of the models in the workshop!
I’m so excited to share this photo with you! This weekend, I took a portrait photography course that focused on lighting (the key to all great images).
After the lecture, I put what I learned into action and it was so much fun. 🙂
A special thanks to the lovely Jessica Shaulis who was one of the models for the class. You can find her on instagram (@jessicashaulis.model).
Have a great Monday!
Happy New Year! I’m so excited about 2018. A new year means new opportunities for photography.
I was lucky enough to receive an opportunity today while visiting my husband’s favorite comic book store.
My husband and I cruised around the store for about 45 minutes. As my husband was checking out, in walks Patrick wearing a very cool winter hat. On a typical winter hat, there’s one pom-pom (I think this is the correct name) that sits on the top of the hat. Patrick’s hat had multiple pom-poms that started at the top of his hat and went all the way down creating a vibrant mohawk.
He was perfect for the 100 Strangers Project! Patrick was told all about the project and he was happy to join.
Patrick had a very jovial personality and smiling came easy to him. While we were talking, I learned that he’s an IT Manager, but that his real passion is collecting comic books. Patrick said he started collecting comics when he was around 12 years old and now has over 75,000 books. Wow!
Patrick, it was a pleasure to meet and talk with you today. Thank you for joining the project and sharing your warm smile!
